You brilliant being, you. I'd like to think that New York takes us by the hand and shows us a better way, the way home, wherever you find it to be. You have many homes, and one of them will always, always be New York <3.
Reading this has made your departure real! ..... I'm shook. but... GREAT that you're keeping the apartment. ?? I definitely assumed you'd be coming back soon. I loved many things in here, but this bit was an ultra relatable favorite:
I finally quit, then spent the next two years leaving parties early and still woke up worrying I’d somehow embarrassed myself. I have watched hours, days, months, years pass while working behind the same desk in my living room, looking into the mirror in the opposite bedroom, asking myself, “ Is this it? Is this something? Is this funny or sad? Is this a bit? Is this just life?”
Its as real as anything else in NYC! I'm sure I'll be back by summer to either sort the apartment, perform a one woman show, or fight in the civil war on the side of the Goodies. WINNIE WILL MISS YOU!
I came across a similar dead body scene in SF recently, and a friend passed by something analogous later that day. She had to explain what was going on to her son.
Where are you going? (Asking for a friend: Where does one go when they tire of New York?)
I am so excited and intrigued about what and where and who you do next! ALSO - I once arrived to swim at a rooftop pool in LA and there were a bunch of people swarming round a body. I passed by and went upstairs to swim on the roof. By the time I got back down, the body was gone and they were bleaching the sidewalk. SO DON'T YOU DARE GO THINKING LA DOESN'T HAVE CULTURE TOO.

I never doubted it for a second! The good thing about death is that it's quite democratic - its literally everywhere, Ben- even LA!
Lao sad! Like reading about a breakup 🥹. You’ll be great wherever you land Katy. Good luck with your move!
Thank you Louisa! So fun to see your name pop up- I hope you’re well ♥️
Oh how I love you and your words and your brain and your heart. New York got you but you got New York. She’s always here. Please write a book??
Here’s to you and your New York. To your endings and to your beginnings!✨
Thank you glorious girl- you’re a huge part of why I loved it here ♥️♥️♥️
